Resident and business notification

When an event involves a road closure, event organisers are required to obtain the approval of at least 80% of local residents and businesses within a 100 metre radius as part of their Event in Public Spaces Permit (EIPS Permit) application.

A courtesy letter of notification must also be distributed at least 7 days prior to the event. This also applies to events with amplified sound.

A template Letter of Notification will be provided by the Events Team. The letter specifies:

  • the date and time of the event including set up and pack down times
  • ways in which the surrounding area may be impacted, e.g. sound levels, road closures, other traffic changes and
  • who to contact for more information prior to and on the day.

Temporary signage boards may be installed at specific locations in Yarra to promote events run by local not-for-profit organisations. You can read more about the conditions of Advertising signs in Yarra’s parks and gardens here or contact our Venues team on 03 9205 5577.
