Yarra’s Art and Heritage Collection includes around 900 items which range from memorabilia, heritage items to a growing contemporary fine art collection.
We are committed to building on our collection through acquisition, commissioning and donations.
Our City of Yarra Collection Policy (821KB, PDF) guides all decisions related to Council management of the collection and outlines our role as cultural custodian of the collection. It also details how we acquire, de-accession, display, exhibit, conserve and care for the collection.
We are a participating institution of the Cultural Gifts Program which offers tax incentives to encourage people to donate cultural items to public art galleries, museums, libraries and archives in Australia.

We have received donations of artworks from artists and collectors and in particular acknowledge the very generous donations by Dr Jonathan Hartley.
