Visual Arts

The Visual Arts Program includes a diverse exhibition program, a public art program and our Art and Heritage Collection, as well as working closely with Yarra’s extensive network of galleries and artist run spaces.

We are committed to providing exhibiting opportunities for artists, as well as inspiring encounters with visual art for all. Exhibitions are programmed for between one and six months duration depending on the space. A fee is paid to successful applicants to contribute towards the development and presentation costs. Applicants may submit one exhibition application to each of the five locations.

We encourage proposals from innovative and engaging artists, following a call-out on an annual basis, to exhibit at: Richmond Town HallFitzroy LibraryBargoonga Nganjin North Fitzroy and Richmond Library, as well as in the four outdoor light boxes at Carlton Library.

This is an opportunity to create a unique artistic statement within busy, inner city locations.

Deadline for applications: 11.59pm Saturday 30 September 2017.

Applications will be assessed on the following criteria:

• Innovative and engaging art forms and practice
• Works of high quality presented in a professional manner
• Works that fit within the limitations of the exhibition spaces
• All works proposed in submission must be available for exhibition

Creative support material to submit:
• Completed application form
• Images of previous or proposed works in one document (maximum 3 pages or 3 jpegs)
• Professional CV (maximum 2 pages)
