Earth Body and Soul

by Parminder Kaur Bhandal

Showing 21 March - 25 September 2023

Earth, Body and Soul is a series of collaborations with dear friends and family.

Here nature acts as both content and context. In this series, characters inhabit the landscape wearing sculptures they created in collaboration with the artist. The spaces these works exist in are undeniably interwoven within the work itself. Spaces shapeshift us, tell stories and unfold histories, as well as having the ability to become transformed through artistic practices.

This series is presented in both public and private spaces.  All iterations of this series are intended to shine a light on the internal and external world. Here the intrinsic and extrinsic exist as one.

Parminder Kaur Bhandal is a visual artist, creative producer, and poet, whose practice focuses on recentering peripheral bodies and disrupting traditional narratives around people and place. Across much of her work, she utilises forms of photography, video, and installation to pay her respects to the community and land that has so generously nurtured her. Her belief is that listening activates empathy which in return nurtures a desire to enact community change for others to connect, express, and engage in critical self-reflection.
