I’m Trying uses body language to explore the dynamics of relationships between close friends and queer couples, taking cues from a party game with sexual overtones.

The artist explains: "In making the video, I was interested in how intimacy, power and embarrassment function in relation to one another. The work also asks what it means to try and articulate that which eludes being spoken about; of grappling for meaning and finding none. Nevertheless, it positions failure as constructive in the sense that it makes room for new attempts, new understandings and new opportunities to 'fail better'".

I’m Trying was part of the Yarra City Arts Peel Street Park Projection Program, from 6 August - 2 September, 2018.
