In this series Mohamed Ezz Monem explores the tension between reverence and the profane by creating a manifold portrait of Mohamed appropriated from Egyptian cinema. Highlighting the word ‘Mohamed’ from the opening credits of films, Monem obscures original film stills through a combination of analog and digital processes to create an ambiguous connection between the name and scenes captured in the background.
