The Last Lighthouse Keeper

On a rocky outcrop facing the sea, a Lighthouse, a Keeper, and his wife the Fisherwoman live a wonderful happy life until the Fisherwoman is taken by a storm.  The Lighthouse and the Keeper feel devastated. They grieve. The Keeper grows lonely, solitary, and cranky. He doesn’t want to know the two jolly Fisher-people who move in just down the shore, until a storm threatens to sweep one of them away.  The Lighthouse, remembering what happened before, uses all her power, and a bit of magic, to save the day.  She rescues the Fisherman, the Keeper is thrilled, reaches out to the two young people, and they all rejoice together.

Told with puppetry, music, visuals and humour, with almost no dialogue, this is a warm and lively piece for young primary age children and their families.

Supported by a Yarra City Council Annual Grant.
