Aaron Claringbold's new exhibition at Bargoonga Nganjin, North Fitzroy Library, represents a new iteration of Claringbold's ongoing project Confluence. The project considers the experience of urban waterways during colonisation through a photographic engagement with the region of Melbourne anchored by the confluence of the Merri Merri and the Birrarung

The works try to speak of the different ways these waterways have been used in the development of Melbourne, and the maintenance of the Australian colonial project. The exhibition is intended to function as a prompt to consider the different ways that water moves through the landscape around Narrm today, compared with 200 years ago; and provide an opportunity to dwell on the various absences these spaces hold.

The exhibition can be viewed during library opening hours.
