Sharpen your skills by joining our free community training program.

This program aims to support community leaders, volunteers, members of management committees or people considering joining committees of not-for profit or community organisations in the City of Yarra to help run as effectively as possible. 

Presented by Non Profit Training and Volunteering Victoria in partnership with Yarra City Council.  Sessions are free, however bookings are essential, Registrations open approximately 4 weeks prior to each workshop.

Project Management essentials

This workshop will assist your committee to avoid common project plan faults and maximise resources for a better chance of success. It will also help those who apply for grants to have a solid base for including in grant applications, so funders can see everything is ready to go.

Building effective partnerships & networks 

One characteristic of a very successful organisation is the number of partners they have. This session will provide clarity about what it takes to be a good partner for funders, other community organisations and their members.

Event marketing and promotion 

This session will help guide your community group to prepare an event marketing plan, along with ideas on how to market and promote their event to their intended audience.

Volunteer recruitment, reward and recognition

In this interactive workshop, you will use the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement to develop or improve an existing volunteer program so that tyou can successfully recruit, retain and recognise the important contribution volunteers make; leading to longer retention rates and a healthy workplace culture.

Successful grant writing 

This session will help grant writers to have a better chance of being successful in their grant applications. It is designed for people involved in charities, community groups, sporting organisations and other non-profits that intend to or are currently seeking and applying for grants through their local communities and other funding sources.
