Council has developed a $7.46 million package of immediate financial assistance and medium-term support for our community and local businesses to ensure that they are supported during this unparalleled COVID-19 pandemic and through the recovery phase.

Within this package, $185,000 was provided for the immediate establishment of a quick response grant program to help artists, creative organisations and businesses to make new work, to adapt their businesses or to find new ways to present their creativity. The Creative Business COVIC-19 Quick Response Grants and the Creative Community COVID-19 Quick Response Grants were launched on 9 April.

These grants have now been closed and over 70 applications have received support.

There have been many great projects and ideas that we would love to support but are simply beyond our means.

At the urging of a Yarra resident, we have started a public campaign to secure more money to support more artists in Yarra.

Donations to the Yarra Creative COVID-19 Quick Grants fund, through the Australian Cultural Fund, will be distributed to local creatives through Council’s Creative Community COVID-19 Quick Response Grant program.

The grant program supports our local artists to keep on creating during these times and provides opportunities for the local and wider community to continue to experience the creative expressions of Yarra artists. To make a tax deductable donation visit the fund page here.
