Thursday 24 May 2018

Bargoonga Nganjin, North Fitzroy Library has won a gold prize at the 2018 Melbourne Design Awards, beating three other shortlisted projects in the public and institutional architecture category.

This year’s awards recognised 166 winning projects across 63 categories, with both gold and silver prizes given. We are thrilled to have our fantastic facility recognised.

Led by design studio GroupGSA, Bargoonga Nganjin achieved a 6-Star Greenstar rated design with rooftop garden and innovative under-decking water-catchment system. The library has seen an incredible 300% increase in customer visits (compared to the former North Fitzroy library) since opening in April 2017.

The Melbourne Design Awards are administered by Driven x Design, a global community of over 75,000 designers, 5000 brands and 1500 studios.
