The Lady with the Dog is named after a short story by Anton Chekhov and is an image of the artist’s wife and their dog; a whippet.

The print is a two-colour lithograph made with master printer Peter Lancaster. The key image was created with a water-based wash and rubbing crayon, with highlights added using sandpaper and a blade. The hand-sprayed colour background was made on a ground-aluminum plate.

This work was created for the Print Council of Australia (PCA) Print Commission 2019. Established in 1967, the PCA Print Commission offers major promotional and professional development opportunities for selected artists. It also provides a vital source of revenue for the ongoing work of the Print Council of Australia.
