Day In Day Out by Tyrown Waigana
Monday 16 September 2024 - Sunday 24 November 2024
This series features digital illustrations and animations from 2019 to 2023. This aspect of my practice tends to provide insights into the everyday lives of First Nations Australians from both urban and rural areas.
It is meant to relate to Indigenous people as it can be reflective of their life and upbringing. From cooking with Nan and going fishing with your family to even the most mundane things like sitting on the couch, there should be something everyone can connect to in this series. There’s also a bit of humour and surreal elements thrown in there, so enjoy.
I am a multi-disciplinary artist and designer. My practice includes painting, illustration, sculpture, animation and graphic design. I also take on exhibitions of public art and corporate commissions. My heritage can be traced to Wandandi Noongar people of South West Western Australia and Ait Koedal clan from Saibai Island in the Torres Strait. I was born in Walyalup (East Fremantle) and grew up in the surrounding suburbs. I enjoy taking on new and exciting work that pushes creative limitations, which allows me to grow as an artist. Honestly, I just want to make wild stuff!
This exhibition is presented by Solid Lines and Yarra City Arts.
