'The Talking Wall' is an interactive sound and architectural installation. The modular installation aims to work with multi-disciplinary designers to build community by dismantling division. This iteration of the installation designed for Collingwood Yards; is a collaboration project with Banh INC and Collingwood Neighbourhood House.

It is a sonic exhibition in which banter, laughter and vernacular dialogue from different generations and cultures of the neighbourhood community are shared. The exhibition also focuses on up-cycling materials, activating a public space with low-impact materials and minimal waste.

Drawing inspiration from the development happening in Collingwood, the installation has the potential to disappear as quickly as it appears like the conversations themselves.

BANH INC. and The Collingwood Neighbourhood House are non-for-profit organisations that offer a range of social, recreational and educational activities and programs that meet the needs of the diverse multicultural communities they serve. During the collaboration process, BANH INC. and The Collingwood Neighbourhood House along with Wagner Shintani have offered a magnitude of support by providing a working space in the amazing underground car park and an opportunity to build long lasting friendships with the Collingwood community.

'I feel very pleased to be able to provide a platform to share these stories and conversations that are the foundation of Collingwood's 3066 community. I was also lucky enough to receive support from P & G paper tubes and initiatives, a non-for-profit organisation, whose company values focus on generating employment for underserved individuals by providing necessary support and helping the most overlooked in society. Working with these like-minded, non-for-profit organisations made the project an even more holistic process, creating employment and building communities with minimal waste.' says artist Matthew Fung.

Matthew Fung’s Talking Wall will launch to the public on Friday 26th November 5pm in the basement of Collingwood Yards, 35 Johnston Street, Collingwood, 3066.

Also open Saturday Nov 26 (times tbc)

Please come and engage with the installation and listen to the multitude of voices that make up the Collingwood community.
