Creatives can access concession booking fees for select venues under the Create Rate scheme until the end of 2023.

Due to high demand in 2022, Yarra City council's Arts, Culture, Venues, and Events department has extended the initiative to continue supporting small creative groups and individuals in Yarra. 

Space for creatives is often expensive and hard to come by, so we want to make it easier for artists and organisations to find affordable and sustainable spaces to create, rehearse, and perform.

This initiative aligns with our latest Arts and Culture Strategy, striving for Yarra to be a creative place where dynamic, diverse, vibrant art activities thrive, and our citizens enjoy arts and culture as an everyday experience.

The Create Rate trial will be available to artists and arts organisations, giving creators access to a discounted room hire rate, previously only available to registered NFPs. This lower rate will mean more artists, creators and arts organisations can access spaces around Yarra to experiment, create and flourish and bring new and exciting experiences to our city.

The Create Rate trial will run through to 31 December 2023 at the following venues:

• Richmond Theatrette
• Loughnan Hall
• Richmond Senior Citizens Centre
• Emely Baker Centre
• Mark Street Hall
• Edinburgh Gardens Community Room

This new rate will take our local creatives one step closer to realising their artistic visions and creative endeavours.
