For the last decade, Carolyn Cardinet has developed an extensive body of works that reflects on sustainability and ecological value in our society.
Her immersive large-installation works are embedded with transparency, beauty and a sense of loss.

'With a multi-medium environmental practice, my work is in reclaiming material to challenge
and reconsider our responsibility towards over consumption and therefor unwanted waste.
In reusing discards, I upcycle waste, repurpose and transform the abandoned as a personal response to the world we live in for others to see.'

Her latest sculptural installation, Beyond Blue (photographed below) was created using reclaimed bookends from Richmond Library which were donated in 2018 following the library’s refurbishment.

Carolyn also used the bookends to create To What End (photographed above), an installation which drew commendation from the judges for her work on sustainability awareness at the Acheron Sculpture Prize in 2018.

Beyond Blue has been selected for the Yering Station Sculpture Art Prize and will be officially launched on Sunday 13 October at 1.30pm.

The 19th Annual Yarra Valley Arts / Yering Station Annual Sculpture Exhibition and Awards is a major event in the Yarra Valley.  The exhibition attracts a diversity of work from both recognized and emerging artists, including local artists and is a must see and do for sculpture lovers.
