APPLICATIONS FOR BUS PROJECTS’

JUNE 2020 - JULY 2021 PROGRAM

Collingwood Arts Precinct (CAP)

Due midnight Monday 30th September

Bus Projects is excited to call for proposals for the 2020-21 program!

This is the inaugural open call for the new venue at the Collingwood Arts Precinct (CAP). This move will allow Bus Projects to drastically improve the way they support artists and engage with communities by removing rental fees paid by exhibiting artists.

Bus Projects is a dynamic platform for encounters with new art and discourse. Bus Projects support Australian artists to make and show work on their own terms. As an Artist-Run Initiative (ARI), Bus Projects plays a crucial role, enabling an artist-organised infrastructure in which practitioners can create, collaborate and engage with community. They invest in artists to create ambitious new work and encourage an active discourse with art through artist talks, symposia, guest lectures and publishing.

Bus Projects welcomes applications from cultural producers including artists, collectives, collaborators, writers and curators at all career levels. Within the new site at CAP, Bus are interested in challenging approaches around how we use and take up space. Proposals can be for exhibitions, events, workshops, performances, screenings, as well as publishing and ephemeral projects of various duration. Bus favour applications involving the creation of new works that are experimental and/or interdisciplinary in nature. People of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent are encouraged to apply.

Bus Projects’ new venue is a large open-plan space that is flexible and adaptable. The overall floor plan is 12 x 7.4 metres with 4.4 metre high ceilings.  Communal spaces throughout the campus may also form part of your proposal. These include a reading room and public program space, meeting rooms, and an outdoor amphitheatre and courtyard.
