The portraits in this exhibition are a combination of well-known faces and the general population and was inspired by the idealised portraits we see on social media.

The application of filters, excessive make up and styling often result in a face that bears little resemblance to the actual person. By pixelating the eyes in a highly styled assortment of specifically placed squares in various colours and opacity, Anonymous takes the process one step further. The high gloss finish of the works in the show replicate a highly styled visage. The pixilation offers a "digital smudge" over the eye area, a layer of disguise or anonymity on the most identifiable part of our person.

Seeking fame has encroached upon our media channels for some time and yet essentially our faces are just one aspect of our personalities and one that many of us wish to protect. Anonymous explores photography as a powerful medium of perception, interpretation and execution to challenge ideas around identity, celebrity and the media.
