Kevin Chin, new works and artist talk videos

These illuminating new paintings by Melbourne artist Kevin Chin, reflect how social distancing changes how we see our place in the world.

Kevin recently developed this series thinking about how our increasingly urban existence can be isolating, in a purportedly globally interconnected world. The paintings feature lone figures wondering lost amidst fragmented landscapes, mixed up from across continents. They carry new significance amidst Covid-19, the associated tightening of national borders, and social distancing measures.

City of Yarra is supporting a series of short artist talk videos, in which Kevin gives insights into the development of each painting. During the exhibition, they’ll be released weekly on Instagram, @kevin_chin_art.
