Fringe Furniture is the radical-furniture-jewel in the Melbourne Fringe crown, both a celebration of what is possible and of the artisans who thought it so.

Returning to its home at Abbotsford Convent, Fringe Furniture 33 is a playground of ideas, an exhibition where design meets possibility meets provocation meets beauty. Proudly open access, this boundary pushing exhibition of industrial design gives artists a chance to think outside the box, re-design the box, turn the box into a hat-stand and then set the hat-stand on fire.

This standout showcase of market-ready and experimental design has provided a platform for artists and designers to exhibit their work for over 30 years, making it one of the longest-running (and most beloved) design events in Australia. Expect pieces from fresh-faced newbies with a unique point of view alongside industry stalwarts pushing the envelope of convention.

Playful, notorious and sometimes surprising, Fringe Furniture plays by a different set of rules.

Melbourne Fringe Festival is supported by a Creative Yarra Grant.
