For Open House 2019, Council is opening the doors to Fitzroy Town Hall and Bargoonga Nganjin North Fitzroy Library on Sunday 28 July.

The Fitzroy Town Hall was constructed in two stages in the 19th century. The building is representative of the aspirations and burgeoning wealth of Melbourne during the gold rush years. Guided tours will be led by members of the Fitzroy History Society, giving an insight into the architecture and history of this grand building. Visitors will also have access to the Reading Room, ballroom and Mayor’s Room.

Open: Sunday 28 July, 10am – 3.30pm.
Tour: $5 bookings; Tours depart every 30 minutes running 30 minutes in groups of 20.

BARGOONGA NGANJIN NORTH FITZROY LIBRARY Group GSA 2017

Bargoonga Nganjin, North Fitzroy Library and Community Hub is a three storey, 2040 sqm, 6 Star Greenstar facility incorporating architectural and landscape design, a library, maternal/child health facility and a variety of community-focused facilities. Visitors will be able to roam through the different levels of the library including the lush rooftop garden.

Activities: Meet Ros Sultan, an Eastern Arrernte and Gurindji artist, 2 – 4pm. Her exhibition A Linear Narrative uses ink and texta pens to create intricate and highly-detailed images. Enjoy Storytime from 2.30-3.15pm and various interactive activities for the whole family from 2-5pm.

Tour: Every 30 minutes, guided. No bookings necessary.
