Tjungu Palyangku art exhibition

Thursday 25 July 2019 - Monday 04 November 2019

Artbank has launched its latest exhibition, bringing together a large body of visual and digital work by 12 Indigenous artists from the Nyapari community in South Australia.

Two years in the making, the community-led exhibition tells Tjukurpa (sacred stories). The stories are told in a unique and innovative way using different mediums including painting, ink drawing and performance video. The exhibition is particularly important as it is during the International Year of Indigenous Languages. Some of the videos on display include the native language of the artists. There is supporting material available with translations and essays explaining the work.

The exhibition will be on display at Artbank’s Melbourne gallery from Wednesday to Friday (11am to 4pm) until 4 November 2019.
