Wash Out
Wednesday 05 December 2018
Emptied rooms. Maintaining an architectural structure. The choreographical principle of distance. The proximity of potential energy. Water. Water. Sweat.
Wash Out is a collaborative research project between Clara J:son Borg (SE/NL) and Michelle Mantsio (AU). They are looking at hygiene and how its tenets form and collapse stable relationships between beings and their environment.
In setting up temporary unlearning research spaces, they look at performance strategies for the human body in relation to image production and text.
Their research project is being conducted over a month long residency with LCI Melbourne, Australia and Room to Create, City of Yarra.
The project will be performed on two different occasions in two different editions:
Edition 1: 15 November at 1pm to 1.40pm at the LCI Gallery, 150 Oxford St, Collingwood.
Edition 2: 5 December at 7pm at the Florence Peel Centre, 190 Young St, Fitzroy.
A special thanks to LCI Melbourne, City of Yarra’s Room to Create Program and The Mondriaan Fonds.
