Shot on the Road: Photos from the Eyeball End

Thursday 19 April 2018 - Friday 29 June 2018

Ali MC, Tanzanite Mines, photograph (detail).

In 2015, Ali MC's 'punk rock travel book' The Eyeball End was published, detailing his travels through forgotten parts of the globe, such as Rwanda, Lebanon and Burma. Shot on the Road: Photos from The Eyeball End is a series of photographs that Ali MC took while on those travels.

Armed with only a small point-and-shoot 35mm film camera, Ali MC captured the brutality, the hope and the beauty of the world around us. The devastation of war in Lebanon, the grim sadness of genocide in Rwanda, militant monks in Burma and the beauty of a warm sunrise in Cambodia.

This exhibition is an intimate yet confronting view of the road most people never dare travel.

Artist Talk/Opening:

Join Ali MC and guest spoken word artists Abe Nouk, Manisha Anjali and Jack Sheppard on Saturday 5 May, 2 - 4pm at the Fitzroy Library.

The exhibition can be viewed during library opening hours.
