RENEW Runway

Thursday 08 March 2018

In the age of online shopping, cheaper production costs and a throw-away society, local Melbourne artists will present garments that review, recycle and re-purpose discarded clothes and materials for the catwalk show RENEW.

This runway event will showcase the works of sustainable artists Carolyn Cardinet, Sam Woud, Rachel Jess-Rae, Tenfingerz, Filfy Rish, Chelsea Fashion and designers from the Yarra Youth Fashion program. Through recycling abandoned and unloved garments these artists will create new fashion styles for a unique runway show.

With an extra twist, the RENEW show will re-purpose a Man With A Van removalist truck to present an unforgettable outdoor runway experience at St Mary of the Cross Square, Australian Catholic University in Fitzroy on Thursday 8 March.

Yarra Youth Fashion Program

The Fashion program at Yarra Youth Services provides young people with the opportunity to learn fashion design, garment making, textile design and accessory design from industry experts. Twelve young designers from this program will be working collectively to present work that exudes sass and sustainability.

This event is a part of our International Women's Day program for 2018. Find out more about how we are celebrating International Women's Day in Yarra
