Tuesday 08 August 2017 - Friday 27 October 2017

Icon, curated by Cassie May, includes dynamic and highly-regarded Melbourne-based artists including Matt Arbuckle, Bob Bloxham, Louise Blyton, Jane Brown, Lizzie Dennis, Fred Fowler, Cam Gill, Rona Green, Warren Lane, Paula Mahoney, Jordan Marani, Saffron Newey, Phuong Ngo, Kitty Owens, Cat Poljski, Kate Robertson, Benjamin Sexton, David Wadelton and Sharon West.

Icon takes its lead from significant built heritage, popular culture and social history in and around the City of Yarra. Each artist will focus on a different form of iconography – be it from culture, places or identities. The works will present striking and commanding portraits of a different nature, and revisit and deconstruct the icons that we think we know.

Richmond Town Hall is Council’s largest exhibition space. Yarra may not yet have a dedicated civic gallery, but we are finding new and creative ways for you to enjoy and interact with great art.
