Rona Green
Leonid (usually paired with Sergey, another print in Yarra’s Collection), is true to Green’s distinctive style of figurative artwork, using themes of anthropomorphism and subculture to create eclectic and endearing characters.
For this work, Green has drawn upon Danzig Baldaev’s Russian Criminal Tattoo Encyclopaedia.
Rona Green practices in the City of Yarra at her studio in the Abbotsford Convent.
She works in printmaking, painting, drawing and sculpture. In 2006 she was awarded the Silk Cut Award for linocut prints.
Green has held 18 solo exhibitions over her career and her works have been acquired by many public art collections including the National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of South Australia and Chiang Mai Contemporary Art Museum, Thailand.
